Tom Hashimoto: Here, we have Ms Gabriele Andrasiuniene, 2nd year MSc Financial Economics at ISM. Alongside her financial practice, she also competes in various sports. So, which sports are you competing?

Gabriele Andrasiuniene: Well, the phrase ‘compete in various sports’ probably describes me the most accurately. My specialisation is Mountain-bike Orienteering (MTBO), but in winter season, which is dedicated to recovery from summer, I participate in cross-country skiing, ski-orienteering, or running competitions. Previously I did much more of winter sports, but as weather conditions in Lithuania last years were not so suitable, I decided to focus only on MTBO. Summer season is coming and I can’t wait to reach my goals.

TH: I also heard that your team competed this week. How did it go?

GA: Yes, alongside my civil sport I’m also a volunteer at National Defence Volunteer Forces. Therefore, together with Military sport club team members we took part in the 6th Baltic Military Winter Games and participated in cross-country skiing competitions. I received bronze medal in Women Elite category in cross-country skiing.

TH: So, how did you decide to join the Financial Economics programme? Are you planning to link sports with finance?

GA: As I finished my bachelor in Political Science, finance/economics was what I really missed in my previous studies. For several years in a row, I work at Ski-Orienteering Committee in Lithuanian Orienteering Federation where I am responsible for management of national Ski-O team, therefore I need knowledge on how to properly manage team’s finances. I decided to write my master thesis about issues of professional football team finances, so I hope not only to fulfil thesis requirements, but also to gain knowledge which is useful to my personal experience.

TH: Thank you and good luck!

GA: Thank you, and hope to see you soon on skis or bike!
